We invite you to join us for Virginia Garcia’s 2025 Health Care Symposium, Driving Community Care: Mobile Health in Action, a free virtual event exploring the transformative role of mobile health programs in advancing health equity and fostering trust within underserved communities.
This year, we are honored to welcome Dr. Jim Withers, Founder of the Street Medicine Institute, as our keynote speaker. A pioneer in the field of street medicine, Dr. Withers will share insights from his extensive experience bringing care directly to people where they live and work. He will highlight how mobile clinics and street medicine initiatives are breaking down barriers to traditional health care settings, reducing emergency interventions, and strengthening relationships and trust with patients.

Evolving to Meet the Community’s Need:
7th Avenue Clinic Expands Access to Timely Care
Over the past three years, Virginia Garcia’s 7th Avenue Clinic in Hillsboro has continually evolved to better serve the community. Originally opened in 2022 as a COVID-19 testing and vaccination site, the clinic later transitioned into a primary care facility. Now, it has been reimagined as an acute care clinic, ensuring patients can access timely medical attention. Previously, appointment wait times could exceed 30 days. Today, patients can be seen within 24 to 72 hours for immediate concerns.
To further expand access, the clinic now operates from 8:00AM to 8:00PM, Monday through Saturday—an increase of 1,872 patient care hours per year. This shift allows more patients to receive prompt medical attention, reduces emergency department visits, and alleviates pressure on our Washington County primary care clinics. Additionally, by offering dedicated acute care, the clinic helps ensure continuity of care, preventing established patients from being reassigned to a different provider when urgent cases arise. Research shows that consistent care from the same provider leads to better health outcomes.
Patients at the 7th Avenue Clinic can receive treatment for a wide range of acute medical needs, including minor sports injuries, sprains, gastrointestinal and genitourinary issues such as nausea and hemorrhoids, minor gynecological concerns, rashes, burns, respiratory illnesses, and more.
By continuing to adapt, the 7th Avenue Clinic remains committed to delivering accessible, high-quality health care when the community needs it most.

Build Stability, Give Monthly
Did you know that most Monthly Givers donate $25 or less every month? Giving monthly can be a budget-friendly way to make a big impact.
“My preference is to give monthly rather than annually, only because it spreads out the cost, aids cash flow, and feels more palatable,” says Eric, one of Virginia Garcia’s committed Monthly Givers. “I suspect many donors would be willing to donate more if it is a monthly recurring donation, than a large annual donation.”
Monthly Giving is the best way to provide consistent support to Virginia Garcia so that we can sustain our most critical services year-round. These donations fund programs and projects that support our patients, staff, and clinics. This includes replacing equipment that breaks down unexpectedly, our Patient Support Flex Funds, and our Mobile Health Program.
